Nestled along the banks of the Savannah River, Augusta is the hub of the 18-county Central Savannah River Area (CSRA). As the second largest and oldest city in Georgia, Augusta is a city with pride in its past and a well-founded faith in its future.

When planning a visit to Augusta, you'll want to come early and stay late. Take time to discover the historic charm of the classic South with its tree-lined streets and majestic antebellum mansions. There are dozens of shops and restaurants, cultural attractions and entertainment offerings in Augusta's metropolitan community.

History and Mother Nature have both blessed Augusta. Long known as the South's "Garden City," Augusta bursts into spectacular bloom each spring to welcome the greatest names in golf at the famed Masters Tournament. Year round, Augusta is the place to be for recreation. We hope you will make the most of our many parks and recreational facilities for an afternoon of golf, tennis, fishing, boating, or just enjoying the great outdoors.

Sports and Recreation

Whether you're a natural athlete or a natural spectator--or somewhere in between-- Augusta offers sports of all sorts.

Augusta is known as home to the Masters Golf Tournament. While many can only dream of playing the Augusta National or attending the tournament, visitors can enjoy one of the region's public or semi private golf courses.

You can also enjoy the beautiful weather without hitting the links. Swim, boat and fish on the Savannah River and Thurmond Lake. Peddle or paddle along the Augusta Canal.

If watching sports is more your game, take in a GreenJackets Minor League baseball game, Augusta Lynx ice hockey, or the non-stop action of Arena Football.
